Contribution of UKRSTAL CONSTRUCTION to the creation of WAVE BRIDGE in Natalka Park

UKRSTAL CONSTRUCTION realized the ambitious dream of architects at its UKRSTAL DNIPRO and UKRSTAL ZHYTOMYR plants - the flagships of Ukrainian bridge construction.

It was they who, having received rolled metal from AZOVSTAL at the beginning of 2022, simultaneously started the production of a complex of metal structures for the wave bridge: the unique arch was produced at the plant in Dnipro, and the pedestrian zone - at the plant in Zhytomyr. The sections were designed and manufactured using a special technology that has no analogues in Ukraine. The weight of one section ranges from 2 to 7 tons.

It was a technological and engineering challenge, because the structure has a distinct wavy configuration, curvilinear in three dimensions. Each segment has its own individual construction. BIM, Tekla Structures technologies were used for the development of workshop drawings. This made it possible to manufacture the structures of the pedestrian section and arches with step-by-step control.

For further control over the technical condition and deformations of structures, the customer was provided with a model in IFC format in the scope of executive documentation. This made it possible to use it in various BIM software, and to achieve the main goal - to ensure full 100% assembly of all elements at the installation. For this purpose, the control assembly of the segments into a single superstructure was carried out in the workshops of the factories, under the painstaking supervision of the customer and the Chief engineer of project. Such operations were absolutely necessary for the further installation and timely opening of the bridge.

Coordinated workforce of both factories secured the in-time production of responsible unique bridge structures without stopping for a single day: despite the difficult circumstances in the country, threats of bombings, lack of light and blackouts, our employees found resources, connected diesel generators, worked in several shifts to make order and show that the Ukrainian people are capable of remaining true to their mentality, their essence in any situation, adhering to the paradigm of the NATION OF CREATORS.

Kyiv city state administration provided comprehensive support to the construction, looked for opportunities to support production, find financing so that the factories could finish the project and show all our compatriots the result of titanic efforts - to finish production and bring a full set of bridge metal structures to the construction site for further installation.

MOSTOBUD - the general contractor of the project - throughout the entire construction process showed the highest level of qualification and implemented all its many years of experience in the latest arch construction technology, in close friendly cooperation and trust we together solved all questions and challenges, overcame obstacles on a difficult path, moving together to the goal. In the tight conditions of the construction site, UKRSTAL CONSTRUCTION delivered sections in a clear sequence according to a specially developed installation schedule.
